Can a Castroted Cuba Survive?

Fidel Castro has officially stepped down as president and Commander-in-Chief of Cuba. I hope that my readers, regular or new, will forgive my forthcoming unusually tasteless comment, but I can’t resist playing on the pun in this post’s title.

Will that nation continue, as it currently exists, now that its supreme dick(tator) has removed himself? Perhaps for the while that Raul Castro remains in power, and his brother alive, things will go on in a business-as-usual fashion, but does — can — post-1959 Cuba exist independently of its tyrant?

I know of at least a quartet of men who likely hope not.
