He’s come a long way since Viagra

Bob Dole, commenting on General Wesley Clark’s already infamous “Well, I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president”:

“Beyond comprehension…further erosion of our nation’s political discourse.”

A tip of the that to James for this one.

  1. Clark’s comment may not have been very elegantly phrased, but I don’t get the scandal (well, perhaps I do – the Republicans and the right-wing media are more effective at generating these something-out-of-nothing controversies than the Democrats are (not that they don’t try)). I find nothing wrong with the point. He’s not questioning McCain’s record, he questioning whether that record qualifies him for a different job. And I think that’s a question worth asking.

  2. No argument here, Mark. Well, little argument. I did appreciate hearing something a little more eloquent from Dole, and, well, I couldn’t resist titling the post as I did. I’m such a child sometimes.
